The venue
The headquarters of Friulana Rubinetterie is located in the industrial area of the Cosa in Spilimbergo, in the province of Pordenone.
Spilimbergo is located north-east of Udine, close to the Carnic Alps.
The town, which owes its name to the Spengenberg family who settled here in the 12th century, is a true artistic and architectural gem: the Western Tower dating back to the 14th century, the Corso Roma punctuated by ancient frescoed palaces, and again the Palazzo del Daziano and the Loggia della Macia are just a few examples. The jewel in the crown of this artistic heritage is undoubtedly the Cathedral of thirteenth-century origins that still preserves illustrious works by Giovanni Martini and Gaspare Nervesa and the splendid frescoes by the Master of the Pavilions (dating back to 1350/1380) decorating the presbytery.
Excellence of Spilimbergo, in addition to the beauty of the place and the importance of its historical monuments, are certainly the mosaics. The long tradition dating back to the Venetian domination, in fact, has led this place to be renowned worldwide for its creations: the Paris Opera, the New York subway, the decorations of Lourdes, the Library of Congress in Washington are just some of the institutions that have asked Spilimbergo mosaicists to decorate their rooms. The ability to make an art of mosaic led to the birth, already in 1922, of the Mosaic School of Friuli, which annually prepares dozens of children to become Masters in this splendid activity, giving them the important task of handing it down to new generations.
